one of the important things we needed to see before the end of the residency was that the moo cows could co-exist with the installation. moo cows seem to get on fine with power and telephone poles, so we expect them to be no different with our poles and wires.

however, one section each of both the short and long wire spans was just beneath moo cow head height after tensioning. so i made a few adjustments yesterday to compensate for this, which i've uploaded into a photo album called moo cow adjusters.

this series of photos show the alterations i made to the wires on 30/04/08 to raise their height above cow height. this was made to the bottom wires on both the long and short spans. a new insulator was added to a single pole on both spans and a small piece of builders string was used to pull the lower wire up towards the upper wire. this gives us the ability to have cows in the paddock at any time. once the cows are removed from the paddock we can simply remove the builders string and lower the wire down to the bottom insulators.

the added bonus is that this is also a cool way to change the sound of the wires instrument! particularly doing things like plucking the string in between the two wires to induce sounds.
