Profile Information

About Me:
Pip Shea is a media artist and designer. Her creative practice is influenced by social media and networked culture. Her work explores hybrid art practices, the participatory media space and peer production models.

She is currently creating a new work for ISEA2009 (International Symposium of Electronic Art) in Belfast. The project, ANYCAST, is an ad-hoc mesh wifi network that is an interface for public engagement in a screen-based installation.

Pip's recent work includes Remixing History, a live AV mash-up of music and film, news and advertising for the 2009 Creative Sydney Festival at the Museum of Contemporary Art; a light-based installation at Federation Square for the Light in Winter Festival; and an artist residency at the 2008 Electrofringe Festival in Newcastle. 2008 also saw Pip speak on two panels at the Alfred Deakin Innovation Lectures, ‘Innovation: A Global View’ and ‘The Voice of the Future’.

Pip has led 2 Arts Victoria Artists in Schools programs involving public exhibitions of digital art, and facilitated the regional digital art project BITSCAPE for the 2006 Next Wave Festival. Pip was also the recipient of an Australia Council RUN_WAY grant in 2007, an Australia Council Banff Residency in 2004, and was a resident artist at the Melbourne Aquarium in 2003.

Pip has also worked extensively across visual and interaction design projects for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and EMI Records.
